If you have read testimonials from people who have used CBD products, you’d have noticed that people are not only fascinated but completely in love with the herbal component. CBD has come out to be a miracle cure that can help with multiple ailments ranging from arthritis to epilepsy.

And it’s not just humans who are benefiting some CBD products. In fact, people are also using cannabidiol for their pets. They claim that their dogs and cats are a lot more satisfied with CBD. From arthritic pain to issues with appetite among animals, CBD stands as a hero here too.

Cannabidiol comes from the cannabis plant. It is majorly found in hemp, not in marijuana. Unlike THC, while CBD is psychoactive, it is not psychotropic. One survey found that 93% of the people polled said that CBD was a better treatment option for their pets then the drugs recommended by their veterinarians. Is it really that effective for pets as well? Experts’ opinions are mixed on this.

You see, while reviews are in favor of CBD for pets, research in this area is very limited. Biggest concern is that the Food and Drug administration has not yet set regulations for CBD products. Now researchers say that most CBD products for pets don’t even contain CBD in the first place.

The Problem With CBD Products For Pets

Though cannabidiol has gained a very high status even among pet medications, there is a problem with the products that are out there for animals. Joseph Wakshlag, veterinary researcher at the Cornell University, says that it is surprising how so many CBD products for pets don’t even contain CBD at all.

He further adds that there are “products with 2 milligrams per milliliter, when an effective concentration would be between 25 and 75 milligrams per milliliter. There are plenty of folks looking to make a dollar rather than produce anything that’s really beneficial.”

Clearly, there are a lot of scam products out there. In fact, one previous study found that even among CBD products that humans use, several are mislabeled. This research said that 70% of the CBD products have an incorrect amount of CBD mentioned on the label.

This is not the only problem when it comes to CBD pet products. Other issues related to this matter include the lack of information on how much of a dose should be given to pets and a lack of research. Not all vets are informed about the dosage of CBD that should be given to your furry buddies.

So Should You Give CBD To Your Pets?

Even though most people rave about how CBD has done wonders for their cats and dogs, you shouldn’t take an uninformed decision. Your first step should be to consult a professional regarding if and how much CBD should be given to your pet animal.

Next, you should invest in a product that contains the right amount of CBD per milliliter. The quality of the product also matters a lot. In this regard, thoroughly read the reviews of the product, see if it is third-party tested, and never skip the label.
