The Food and Drug Administration has not given its final verdict on the legal status of cannabis.

However, the FDA is warning people to not fall for scam products from companies that make big claims. In this regard, it has sent a warning notice to a company called Curaleaf for selling products which it hasn’t approved and for making “unsubstantial claims” about them.

This manufacturer, Curaleaf, claims that it is a leading one in the industry. It also says that it offers “medical-grade” products that come in differing strains and concentrations. They even added that these cannabis solutions can “prevent, diagnose, treat, or cure serious diseases.”

What Did The FDA Say?

The current FDA commissioner, Dr. Ned Sharpless said that selling such products puts the health of consumers at risk. He further added that “there are many unanswered questions about the science, safety, effectiveness, and quality of unapproved products containing CBD.”

The company in question claimed that its products can treat conditions such as cancer, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease, and PTSD. It continued that the cannabis products could help with anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, addiction, etc. All this was backed by the claims that the products sold are science-supported.

Dr. Sharpless said selling these illegal and unapproved products, claiming they have therapeutic uses, is deceptive. He also added that consumers need to be more aware of which products they should choose and believe in.

The Food and Drug Administration has given Curaleaf 15 days to respond. On failing to respond, the FDA plans to take legal action against Cureleaf.

How Can You Steer Clear Of Scam Products?

There are many scammers out there who have tapped into the cannabis market for making profits they don’t deserve. Unfortunately, for many people it can be difficult to choose products that are actually of good quality.

In this regard, always take your time to research on a company before you purchase from it. Read reviews online. Don’t only run your eyes over customer reviews but also other places on the internet that review cannabis products.

Look for honest reviews. Research the background of the company. Ask for recommendations from friends. The best route you can take and must always do so is consulting your healthcare provider. While cannabidiol has many researches proving its health benefits, many negative side effects are also associated with cannabis.

Some get calm by using cannabis products while others experience anxiety. More research is needed to know more about this wellness trend. Many CBD products that claim to be effective don’t even contain the compound itself. Others are unclear about the adverse side effects or composition of the product.

Verdict

The Food and Drug Administration is warning consumers to stay smart and not purchase scam CBD products. It has recently sent a notice to Curaleaf, a cannabis product seller that makes huge claims. It is crucial to use products that have positive reviews, are open about the formulation and composition, and legal.
