Cannabidiol, the non-psychotropic component of the cannabis plant, is known for its wide role in the wellness industry. Owing to this reason, CBD has made its way to several different products. Talking about the many beverages it has been integrated into, today we have CBD water, soda, tea, coffee, and more. But how does CBD even mix into fizzy drinks?
How Can CBD Be A Part Of Sodas?
Cannabidiol is drawn out from the dried hemp plant. CBD extract is obtained by means of CO2 extraction. Other cannabinoids and compounds are filtered out to get pure CBD. This CBD is then given a base with a carrier oil. Carrier oil options include coconut oil, MCT oil, grape seed oil, etc. A CBD product based in alcohol is called CBD tincture.
For the making of fizzy drinks that have a ‘head’ CBD oil is used. This means that you can mix a dose of CBD oil into beer or another soft drink for giving it a touch of cannabidiol. For ‘headless’ drinks such as cocktails and mocktails, CBD tinctures are used.
Can You Buy CBD Soda?
Yes, you can purchase CBD soda from many sellers. However, it is important to note that the Food and Drug Administration has categorized the addition of CBD in foods and beverages as illegal. This means the FDA does routine checks and calls out companies that are not following the rules by making claims of wellness regarding their CBD products without any scientific backing.
Last year, news broke out that Coca Cola was collaborating with Aurora cannabis to introduce CBD-infused Cola in Canada. The rumors spiraled for a bit but as of right now, Coca Cola doesn’t seem to have CBD infusion in its plan.
Are Soft Drinks And CBD A Beneficial Mix?
Taking about famous soft drinks like Coca Cola and Pepsi, the infusion of CBD into these doesn’t seem to make any sense. If both are mixed, it would purely be for marketing purposes. It is difficult to imagine how CBD cola could have any benefits on your health.
First of all, these soft drinks have too much sugar in their composition. This means that they can harm your health easily. Excess sugar is linked to obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, depression, and many other ailments. Can CBD be potent enough to beat all these adverse effects and manage to improve your health when added in such a soda?
Doesn’t seem possible. In fact, CBD’s addition wouldn’t make much difference let alone positive. Furthermore, another important thing to keep in mind is that there are no studies on how CBD can improve your health when a part of foods and beverages.
Verdict
You can enjoy CBD soda, but it doesn’t seem that CBD in sugary dizzy drinks can do any good for health. The FDA is also against it and research has not been conducted in this particular area either. For now, its better to stick to good old CBD oil for wellness benefits.
